Philip Blackburn has been a full-time mediator since 1990.  A graduate of Westminster College and the Vanderbilt University School of Law, he has mediated over 3,500 cases in 36 states and four Canadian provinces.

Prior to his mediation career, Mr. Blackburn was a trial lawyer.  He had over 100 jury trials, as both a Plaintiff’s attorney and as a Defense lawyer.  For the past 25 years he has been a guest speaker at many national conferences of trial lawyers and mediators.

Philip Blackburn has been named a “Fellow” in the American College of Civil Trial Mediators.  His training as a mediator has included seminars in the following areas:  Advanced Mediation Techniques; Risk Analysis; Dynamics of Human Relationships; Listening Skills; Conflict Analysis; and Group Dynamics. He has completed the Advanced Mediation program of the Pepperdine University School of Law's Strauss Institute For Dispute Resolution. Philip has trained over 50 lawyers to be mediators.

Mr. Blackburn has himself presented seminars on Creativity; Principals of Negotiation; and Qualities of Outstanding Mediators. For many years Mr. Blackburn and his family resided in Orlando, Florida.  Long time visitors to Virginia, Philip and his wife will now make their permanent home in Lexington.
